Last year, in March 2017, I started my own coaching & consulting practice. From a coaching standpoint I focused on StrengthsFinder as my platform and from a consulting standpoint I focused on helping restaurant owners and leaders improve their results through creating a culture of intentional leadership development which positively impacted every area of the business. As a longtime restaurant executive and leader, I knew where my sweet spot was and that was restaurants and leadership development, and I knew that I could add value in many ways.
The organizations I have worked with and the individuals I have coached over these last 15 months have seen some great results and that has been inspiring to me and reinforced that there is a real need for this type of work to be done in the restaurant community. That being said, coaching and consulting with business leaders and restaurant owners has made me recognize that I want to be more hands on and leading at a high level organizationally to once again do some of the things I am consulting those business leaders to do, which will require a pivot for me t0 find another way to accomplish my mission other than coaching and consulting.
My mission of helping leaders improve their results through developing a strong, strengths-based culture of leadership development within their organizations hasn’t changed. But what has changed is that I realize I need to find a different way to live out this mission. That means getting back into a leadership role within an organization, which is the pivot I need to make.
The best way to accomplish my mission is to once again align myself with an organization who shares my values in building strong cultures that create teams of high performers to achieve the larger goals and ensures that those goals are achieved the right way. Much like the best days at Chipotle, my desire is to come alongside an organization and lead at a high level to help drive results by ensuring high performing teams have a chance to contribute to the organization, while reproducing others to do the same. Developing strong leaders and building cultures that support growth are the things I excel at, are my passions, and are the foundations that I have built an entire career around.
I’m excited about the return to a leadership role and look forward to partnering with the right organization to create opportunities that build the culture and fuel growth for not only the company, but for the people working on the front lines and kitchens everyday to create the guest experience that makes it all happen.
And as always I look forward to chronicling the journey and sharing the stories of all the inspiring people I will engage along the way.
